Dubai
According to the British Broadcasting
Company, by the year 2015 Dubai will be the world’s number
one tourist destination. Dubai is becoming an adult playground including
such things as the world’s tallest hotel, Burj al arab, an
indoor ski resort in the middle of the desert, islands in the shape
of palm trees and the world map, and the soon to be completed underwater
Hydropolis hotel (seen above). The underwater hotel will cost
upwards of $5,500 a night.
Among the project’s unusual architectural details are the
hotel's two translucent domes, which will house a concert auditorium
and a ballroom that break the water's surface, with the ballroom
featuring a retractable roof. And that's not to mention the hotel's
220 bubble-shaped suites located 66 feet below the surface, with
clear glass comprising both the sleeping areas' walls and each room's
bathtub.
